It doesn’t matter if you’re an old hand, or you’ve never taken a photo in your life, choosing a DSLR can be a confusing process! Don’t be put off, however, as the potential adventures you might have with your new camera could greatly outweigh the difficulty you had in buying it! At The Insurance Emporium, we want to encourage everyone to pursue their photographic passions. That’s why we’re trying to make your big decision easier with our guide to finding the best DSLR for your budget!
Entry level
If you’re looking to get into the world of digital photography, it can be hard to know where to start! Entry level DSLRs can be really useful in providing budding enthusiasts with the help they need. They often come up with helpful tips on-screen when you’re setting up a shot, so you’re not consulting the manual the whole time! Here’s our pick of the bunch:
Nikon D3500
The latest range in Nikon’s entry level cameras comes with improved image quality and a larger sensor – it also has an amazing 1,500-shot battery life! It’s a DSLR that’s easy to use, features a useful guide mode, and won’t weigh you down. It could be perfect for new adventures!
Mid-range
Have you well and truly caught the camera bug, and now want to upgrade from your current model? Mid-range DSLRs typically give users much greater autonomy and scope to take some amazing images! They also tend to be sturdier in construction, with greater weather-proofing and top-notch image sensors. This one’s our favourite:
Canon EOS 80D
This is another new camera, replacing the 70D. Its biggest draw is the fantastic 24 million-pixel sensor that’s able to capture a superb amount of detail. The auto focus is also fast, an improvement on the previous model. In addition, it’s been ergonomically designed and is great to handle. As with earlier models, there’s inbuilt WIFI, but also NFC, allowing even greater connectivity to phones and tablets!
Pro
At a professional level, you’ll be looking for a DSLR that can really perform, often during tough conditions. Sturdiness also becomes important here; the quality of the build needs to be high, as this is a camera that’s going to see a lot of use! If you’re a professional photographer, however, you’ll already know a camera inside and out, so we’ll skip to our choice of pro DSLR!
Nikon D5
Unlike the previous two cameras, the D5 isn’t new, but still manages to hold its own against newer models. The advantages of the D5 are its ability to capture great shots in low light and fast moving objects – it could be perfect for sports photographers and photojournalists! It’s solidly built and reliable, but also technologically advanced – with a great 20.8 mega pixel FX sensor, and able to expend ISO to a whopping 3,280,000!
Whatever your level, we hope these tips might help you in your quest to find the perfect camera, so you can get snap happy as soon as possible! The cost of cameras and photography equipment can quickly mount up, so you might want to consider getting camera insurance to protect your new gear.
