Our pets are companions for our greatest adventures, so it can be a worrying time for any pet owner when their animal doesn’t feel up to scratch. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what happened to Phillip when his dog Sparky became unwell. Thankfully, Phillip had Sparky insured and was able to claim for his treatment, removing much of the stress. Read on to hear what Phillip had to say about his experience!
Life with Sparky
Phillip and his family have had Sparky in their life for just over a year, after adopting him from a rescue centre in October 2017. They were looking for a dog who would get along with their cats. Because of his winning ways, Sparky “fitted the bill entirely”, Phillip explained. Aged 10, Sparky is “a lovely dog, with a great personality.” So after becoming such an important part of the family, it was worrying when he became unwell.
The illness and treatment
Sparky did amazingly well at a dog show, where he came second place! But afterwards, Phillip and his family noticed that Sparky’s eye was red and runny, which led to a trip to the vet. This visit confirmed that Sparky had an eye ulcer. At first the vet prescribed eye drops, although with these Sparky was not, according to Phillip, “the most compliant patient”! So, “after the eye drops didn’t solve the problem, Sparky required surgery to remove the ulcer.”
A trip to The Insurance Emporium
Luckily, Phillip and Sparky had dog insurance from The Insurance Emporium, and he made his first visit to us. “The Emporium website was very helpful and clear,” Phillip told us. “There was a link to the claim form which was easy to download and complete.” He went on to say that “the speed and efficiency of the claim process surprised us, as you usually only hear negative stories about insurers. A real joy to do business with and I would certainly recommend them to my family and friends.” All of this meant that Phillip had no reluctance at renewing his policy in November.
Back with a spark in his step
We’re overjoyed that Phillip and Sparky managed to get all the help they needed, and the best news is that Sparky coped really well with his operation. With the ulcer removed, Phillip told us, Sparky was back to his normal self in no time at all: He’s “cheeky and inquisitive, acting like a 5 year old rather than the 10 years he actually is.”
We’re so glad Sparky has managed to make a full recovery. And we’re sure he will continue to brighten Phillip and his family’s adventures in the future, hopefully with the reassurance that cover from The Insurance Emporium provides.
