Like us, one minute our pets are fit and healthy, the next they could be involved in an accident or become ill and our world is turned upside down. After our customer, Sue’s, dog Candy, a 9-year-old Beagle Cross, became unexpectedly ill she was left anxious and stressed. We recently caught up with her to find out what happened and to get an update on how Candy is now.
Choosing Pet Insurance
Sue’s experience of pet insurance hasn’t always been plain sailing. When Candy was insured with another pet insurance provider, she injured her cruciate ligament. Sue went to make a claim for the treatment of Candy’s accident, but the settlement was a lot lower than she’d expected due to the payment being split, something that was only made clear in the small print of her insurance policy.
Knowing she needed to review her insurance policy upon renewal Sue shopped around. She says she liked The Insurance Emporium because ‘of the coverage options and there were lots of pointers to get coverage for your needs. The cover is reasonably priced, too.’
Sue’s Pet Insurance Experience
Sue noticed a lump on Candy’s hindleg and naturally made an appointment with the vets to have it checked. Unfortunately, the test results came back to confirm the lump had cancer cells. Candy was scheduled to have a CT scan to assess the lump to understand if there was a defined line to be able to remove it without having any cancer left behind. The good news was there was a defined line and Candy successfully had the lump removed.
In addition, the CT scan also revealed a mass on her spleen, and it was decided that she should have her spleen removed as it’s not essential for life in dogs. She’s healing well and Sue is confident in her recovery.
Sue ended up making two claims which were both successful. She said ‘The Insurance Emporium couldn’t have been more helpful. It was such a relief to know we were covered, and it made all the difference. It also helped towards Candy’s recovery, I’m extremely grateful!’
It can be overwhelming when our pets become ill and it can understandably take us by surprise, however it can happen to even the most fit and healthy of animals.
