It’s hard to believe that we’re already half way through the year! It doesn’t feel like two minutes since we were taking the Christmas decorations down and now we find ourselves basking in the summer sun! With time moving so quickly, we wanted to catch up with our favourite agility duo, Hayley and Teal, to see what they’ve been up to in the first half of 2018. Here at The Insurance Emporium, we’re proud to support this dynamic duo! Check out their year so far!
Championship quality!
A rainy start to the year meant that many competitions were cancelled and there were fewer opportunities for training. However things kicked off in February, as Teal tried out for the IMCA (International Mixed Breed Championships), where he was selected to represent the UK in the individual and team events! We shouldn’t forget that Teal also competed at Crufts in March, you can read our blog and find out how they got on by clicking here. He’s now won a total of five championship certificates this year, one of which qualifies him for the Championship Event at Crufts 2019! He’s won a few titles already which will give him points for this event next year!
Team GB
Hayley and Teal took their first steps towards world domination in April when they tried out for the FCI World Championships and European Open Championship. Following their success in these qualifiers Teal has been selected to represent Team GB in both individual and team competitions at the finals of both events! Not only has Teal landed coveted spot on Team GB, Hayley has been asked to captain the team for both the World Championship and European Open Championship too! What a flying start to 2018!
When will they be competing?
It’s fair to say that Hayley and Teal will be getting a few more stamps in their passport before the year is out! First up, they’ll be jetting off to Austria in July to take part in the European Open Championships, this is where Hayley and Teal will be in action for Team GB! In August, they return to home soil in order to compete in the IMCA Championships before another European jaunt in October, when they head to Sweden for the FCI World Championships! Our favourite duo are certainly going to be busy in the second half of the year!
What do they say?
Hayley says that “now the season is underway and our training plan is back on track, we start the qualification again for Crufts and, of course, build up to the major international events that we’ll be attending later this year!” She’s thrilled with the start to the season that they’ve made and seems very optimistic about the rest of the year, “Teal has certainly gone up a gear and my fitness has gone up a gear too! With eight weeks to go until the European Open in Austria we are training very hard!” We can’t wait to see how they get on facing Britain, Europe and the World’s elite!
It certainly looks like the rest of 2018 is going to be very exciting for Hayley and Teal. We couldn’t be more proud of their progress and achievements!
