NEW CARAVANS AND GADGETS TO KICK START 2018

It only seems like two minutes since winter began to approach. As the dark nights drew in and temperatures dropped, many people may have chosen to tuck their caravan away until the new season. However, time seems to be flying. It won’t be long now until it’s time to think about escaping in your Elddis or cracking out the Coachman again! The NEC Motorhome and Caravan show in Birmingham takes place in February and is seen by many as the official start of the season. At the show, manufacturers will be preparing to unleash their latest models on the ever-eager caravanning community. It could be the perfect time to upgrade your current ‘van, or even take your first steps into this most liberating of passions. Here are some new models for 2018 that might catch the eye!

Bailey brilliance

Think that unicorns are just a myth? Well, these ones are very much the real deal! Bailey caravans have revamped their flagship range for 2018. The new Unicorn series is the fourth generation of this much-loved model. Bailey say that every care has been taken to ensure that it meets the needs of a wide variety of caravan enthusiasts. There are ten different layouts available in the Unicorn range, offering everything from corner kitchens to longer beds, so you could find yourself spoilt for choice! The Segovia model is their first six berth in the Unicorn range, so this might be the perfect ‘van if you’re taking the kids away, want to invite friends along, or just need some space away from your other half! If you needed some convincing, the fact that Caravan Magazine recently gave the Unicorn Segovia their Caravan of the Year Award 2018 may just do it!

Lunar eclipse

This year sees Lunar make big changes to both their top and bottom of the range caravans. The budget Venus has been given some fresh new graphics and a handy awning light to illuminate those evenings spent outdoors! Heading inside, the interior has been given fresh new worktops and furnishings, as well as a new CD-free entertainment system. They certainly seem to be keeping up with the Spotify generation, accommodating the latest streaming technologies! Up at the other end of the Lunar scale, you can find the model that they describe as ‘like no other’. It could be all about the interior for those looking to invest in a 2018 model Quasar, the new sunroof helps to light up their ‘Vibe’ soft furnishings, creating a whole new look for the Quasar. There are also corner storage lockers and chrome fittings which could catch the eye!

Looking Sprite-ly!

Swift have made some big changes across all of their products for 2018, with the Sprite possibly seeing the biggest facelift. The Sprite is the only range in the Swift group to get a new layout for 2018 and the Quattro EB boasts a central washroom as well as island bed in the rear. If you’re heading out to sunny Europe this year, you may want to consider the optional sunroof for an al fresco feel! The new triple windows at the front should offer plenty of opportunity to take in the views, wherever your destination in 2018! In February, the new Sprite Super was announced, offering the widest and most spacious front parallel lounge on the market. The Sprite Super has a whole host of features that could make it the perfect caravan for those seeking extra space! The Swift group has a vast portfolio of models so it might be worth planning a trip to the NEC show to have a good nose around!

Xplore the options!

Now part of the Erwin Hymer Group but traditionally one of Britain’s major caravan manufacturers, Elddis are not to be forgotten when it comes to new models. Their two-berth Xplore 422 is released in 2018 and might represent great value for money when it comes to a small caravan. In a sector which could mean you find yourself sacrificing on space, this caravan provides a slightly more upmarket layout. Its L-shaped end-kitchen and side washroom help to make the most of the limited room in a caravan which is just 2.18m wide. If you wanted to upgrade this ‘van further then there is the option to include the Xplore SE package, this comes with a spare wheel, alloys and a CD/radio included amongst other things. Due to it being relatively light-weight, the Xplore 422 could be ideal if you’re towing with a smaller car or new to caravanning. This model may be small but it might just tick all the right boxes!
