Every year, millions of people from all over the UK take a stand against the wind, rain and mud (or even the sun!) to watch their favourite bands, artists and musicians at the country’s biggest festivals. In spite of the unpredictable weather, festivals and British summertime go together like mud and wellies! We’ll be seeing plenty of both this summer, as music legends and newcomers take to stages all across Britain. Here are our top 8 artists to catch at this year’s festivals!
Foo Fighters – Reading & Leeds Festivals
They’re the undisputed kings of rock. What more is there to say about the legendary Foo Fighters?! Dave Grohl and co are back in the UK, bringing the last 35 years of their legacy with them when they take centre stage at this year’s Reading and Leeds Festivals.
The Hunna – TRNSMT
The Hunna have been going from strength to strength since their first single in 2015! The Hertfordshire-based indie rock band are headlining King Tut’s Stage on the Saturday of TRNSMT Festival in Glasgow – originally launched to replace T in the Park. Expect the crowd to go up like a bonfire when they play their debut single!
Calvin Harris – Creamfields
For those of you who prefer a little dance in their line-up, house superstar Calvin Harris is headlining this year’s Creamfields Festival after his latest single Giant peaked at number 2 in the UK charts. He’s all about big beats and great tunes, making for the perfect summer show.
Twenty One Pilots – Reading & Leeds Festivals
Genre-spanning duo Twenty One Pilots have been taking the world by storm over the last few years, combining alternative hip hop with heavy guitar riffs and the occasional melancholic melody. Every album breaks new boundaries and shifts the band in directions we’ve never seen. With such an eclectic collection of music under their belts, we can’t wait to see their headlining performance at Reading and Leeds Festivals this year!
The Human League – Camp Bestival
The Human League helped define the sound of a whole decade of iconic music. Hailing from Sheffield, the group are true UK legends, and are bringing the signature synth-heavy sound of the eighties to Camp Bestival this summer. This is bound to be a performance you won’t want to miss.
Rick Astley – Isle of Wight Festival
Another eighties icon is gracing the stage this year, and he’s never gonna give you up! Rick Astley’s featuring on the main stage of the Isle of Wight Festival. You’ll definitely want to stick around for Bastille, George Ezra and Fat Boy Slim! But get there a little earlier and you’ll be treated to a nostalgia-fuelled set punctuated by one of the most iconic hits of the 1980s. He won’t let you down!
Slipknot – Download Festival
Not one for the faint of heart, the original Iowa metalheads are bringing the energy and chaos of their live show to their headlining spot at this year’s Download Festival. With over 20 years of head-banging, guitar-pounding music under their belt, the nine-piece band combine powerful metal with an unmistakable stage presence. They’re bound to put on a show you won’t forget.
Kylie Minogue – Glastonbury Festival
Kylie’s finally taking the well-deserved “legend” slot at this year’s Glastonbury Festival! She’s joining the ranks of other musical legends who’ve graced the stage over the last few years, including “Bee Gee” Barry Gibb, Dolly Parton and Lionel Richie. Expect a heart-warming performance for the ages from the Aussie queen of pop in the coveted Sunday night spot.
